Hip Implant Operations - Small Cut, Big Benefits!

With medical science refining itself every moment, hip implant operations are becoming more applicable. Surgeons are now in a single opinion for the use of the minimally invasive approach for hip replacement operations and implants. The implants technique being practiced for around two years and has gained attention due to its innumerable benefits. The surgical replacement procedure involves a smaller incision of two to three inches, as compared to the twelve inches long incision in the conventional approach for replacements and implants. The surgeon operates on the hips through the muscle and soft tissue without severing them. The implant replacement is done and the incision closed. This hip implant operation technique requires one overnight stay and provides a quicker resumption of daily activities.

The surgeons prefer to use this replacement and implant surgery mostly for first-timers, however revision surgeries are no exceptions. The replacement technique is difficult and has certain downsides also. The surgeons using this approach of operations need to be trained in handling specialized instruments. The technique of minimally invasive hip replacements and implants gives good results even with the conventional types of implants and fixatives. These types of operations are associated with minimal complications, but the long term complications for replacements still need to be assessed, as the technique is relatively new. The prognosis is better than with the conventional replacements. It also saves troublesome post operative activity restrictions. Overall, the patient fares better with the minimal invasive surgery.
